1 – Overall Aim of Course
The course is aimed at enabling the student to master the basic terminology and principles of occupational medicine/health as a requirement for more specific and advanced related courses.
2 – Intended Learning Outcomes of Course (ILOs)
By the end of this course students should be able to

a.1 Describe the evolution of occupational medicine/health
a.2 Define basic terminology in the discipline of occupational medicine
a.3 List the components of occupational health services
a.4 Enumerate the members of occupational health team and their roles
a.5 List the components of occupational history and clinical examination
a.6 Describe the epidemiology of occupational diseases and explain the approaches to prevention including screening
a.7 Discuss the role and applications of surveillance in occupational health
a.8 Explain the basics of risk assessment in occupational health
a.9 List the national and international agencies concerned with occupational health and discuss their roles
a.10 Identify important ethical aspects related to occupational medicine/health practice.
